The Pawtucket Family YMCA provides Early Childhood Education and Before-and-After-School Programs for children from six weeks to 15 years old. Each site is licensed by the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) and our Preschool programs are approved by the RI Department of Education.

• Professionally trained directors, childcare counselors, teacher assistants and classroom aides are required to complete 20 hours of training each year.

Convenient Hours:
Care is provided from 6:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. before and after school. Services are also available during vacation weeks and snow emergency days.
Time: 6:30 a.m. until start of the school (participants are transported to their
respective school locations). The Early Risers program is an energetic and fun way for kids to start their school day. Activities such as craft projects, interactive game playing, and cooking give participants a balance of learning life skills while having fun. This, combined with homework assistance and a healthy complimentary breakfast, ensures each day starts off productively.
This after-school program is a curriculum-based model promoting life skill building, social skill growth, and the importance of active living. Offerings such as daily crafts activities, unique field trips and monthly guest speakers provide a unique and entertaining educational experience for each participant. The after-school program features three education-based offerings that provide support and encouragement for participants and have a history of tremendous success:
Fit Kids program reflects the YMCA’s commitment to developing participant’s spirit, mind, and body. This award-winning program incorporates games, activities, physical fitness, nutrition education and general wellness, and gives each child building blocks for an active lifestyle.
KidzLit s an exciting reading program that brings books to life! This creative offering involves group reading followed by activities based on each book’s story.
Homework Helper focuses on the academic support each child needs to stay ahead and succeed in school.
